Second grade artists learned about the Mexican holiday Day of the Dead and how it's different from Halloween. We learned that Day of the Dead is a celebration or time of remembrance for loved ones who have died. We had many students who celebrate the Day of the Dead in the grade level as a whole and they were able to share some of the special traditions that they do with their families during this holiday.
As artists we learned about bending bodies and how when are bodies have movement their are angles and bends at our joints. Artists took q-tips, glue and paper and created these fun dancing skeletons, or calaveras. We also talked about proportion and how the parts of a body need to be the right size and in the right place compared to the whole. Grade 1 Artists are painting |
