Artists can always grow by changing their words and thoughts. Instead of thinking or saying what you see in the first statement, students could say or think what they see in the alternative mindset. Another way to end a negative statement about your artwork or art ability is to end the statment with "YET." For example, "I'm not very good at drawing cats....YET!" The power of "YET" is great!

All artists got busy creating a community mural on day one of Art. In the morning I taped down large white pieces of paper to each of my eight tables. My first class is grade 4 and they were in charge of painting the ground. My next class, grade 5 was charge of painting the sky. After a little lunch and letting the paint dry my grade 3 artists created buildings and houses for our communities using paper and glue. Grade 1 was in charge of cutting and gluing things from nature like trees, the sun, flowers, and clouds. Finally my last class of the day, grade 2 cut and glued people and transportation. What an awesome project created by all my artists in one day! |
