Sunnyside Art Room Update... Last April 2014, in Art specialist with Mrs. Vanderbilt, thanks to the support from our Sunnyside PTA all students were able to participate in a digital photography project. Students used digital cameras to take photographs with an artist’s eye. We learned how to frame, focus, and photograph our Sunnyside environment like a photographer. Before taking our photographs we had a guest artist visit Sunnyside, Mike Dvorak, and he shared his photography with K-5 students in a presentation. After taking photographs in Art specialist, Grade 1-5 students viewed and used photo editing software in technology with Mrs. Pomraning to thoughtfully revise their best photographs. Students used basic photo editing tools and explored ways to modify and change a photo. This collaboration with Art and Technology was a wonderful highlight of our year!
Here is what each of the grade levels focused on for their digital photography projects.
Kindergarten artists found hidden shapes all around the school and captured them with their camera.
First and second grade artists searched for a hidden letter of the alphabet using lines and shapes from the world around them.
Third grade artists went on a scavenger hunt and searched for photographs that encouraged looking closely, different points of views, and finding textures and patterns.
Fourth and Fifth grade artists went on a search for photographs that showed a macro point of view, textures and patterns, different points of views, and also a free choice photograph.
